Next Level Training Strategies was founded on a simple but powerful premise: organizations deserve L&D consulting from people who have actually done this work at scale. Not consultants who study transformation from the outside, but practitioners who've led it from the inside—who understand the difference between strategies that look good on paper and strategies that work in real organizational environments.
Our approach is built on the Performance First model—a proven framework for aligning learning strategy with business outcomes while accounting for the organizational realities that determine success or failure. This isn't theoretical. It's been developed, refined, and validated through decades of hands-on implementation in complex corporate environments.
We bring that practical wisdom to organizations navigating L&D transformation, helping bridge the gap between ambitious strategy and sustainable results.

Adriene Russell
Founder & Principal Consultant
Adriene founded Next Level Training Strategies after a 29-year career at Aetna and CVS Health, where she progressed from administrative assistant to Executive Director of Learning & Development Centralized Operations. In that role, she led an organization of more than 900 people and managed a $10 million software budget, overseeing large-scale learning transformations that affected thousands of employees across the enterprise.
Throughout her career, Adriene gained deep expertise across the full L&D spectrum—strategy development, operational optimization, technology implementation, change management, and team development. She learned firsthand what it takes to gain executive buy-in, navigate organizational politics, build high-performing teams, and create sustainable learning solutions in environments where competing priorities and resource constraints are constant realities.
Adriene created the Performance First model that guides our client engagements, a framework that ensures learning initiatives are strategically aligned with business outcomes while remaining realistic about implementation challenges. Her approach emphasizes building internal capability, understanding organizational culture, and making decisions grounded in what actually works—not just what's trendy or theoretical.
Adriene brings authenticity and candor to client relationships. She listens before she advises, tells the truth about what she believes will work (even when that's uncomfortable), and partners with clients through the challenging work of implementation rather than handing over a plan and walking away.

Eileen Cooke
Strategic Partner
Eileen brings executive-level L&D leadership experience from her tenure as Vice President at CVS Health, where she led strategic learning initiatives across the enterprise. Her background spans the full range of L&D leadership responsibilities, from developing enterprise learning strategies to overseeing their implementation at scale in one of the nation's largest healthcare organizations.
Throughout her career, Eileen has demonstrated exceptional ability to translate business objectives into effective learning solutions while building stakeholder alignment across complex organizational structures. She understands the executive perspective on L&D investments and knows how to position learning initiatives to gain support and secure resources in competitive corporate environments.
Eileen's strategic thinking complements the operational depth that Next Level Training Strategies brings to client engagements. Her expertise in executive communication, organizational change, and strategic planning strengthens our ability to help clients navigate transformation at the highest levels of their organizations.
Together, Adriene and Eileen worked closely during their time at CVS Health, developing a collaborative relationship built on complementary strengths, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to practical, results-driven L&D solutions. That proven working relationship now benefits clients who need experienced guidance through complex transformations.
Our approach is straightforward: we listen before we advise. Every organization is different, and cookie-cutter solutions rarely work. We take time to understand your culture, your stakeholders, your constraints, and your goals before making recommendations.
When we work with you, you're not getting consultants who will hand you a strategic plan and disappear. You're getting partners who will work alongside your team through implementation, help you navigate challenges, and build your internal capability to sustain the work long after our engagement ends.
The best L&D strategies aren't the most innovative - they're the ones that fit the organization's culture, leadership style, and operational reality.
Honesty over salesmanship. We'll tell you what we genuinely believe will work in your situation—even if that means a smaller engagement or recommending a different approach than you initially considered.
Experience over theory. Everything we recommend is grounded in what we've actually implemented and seen work in real organizational environments.
Partnership over prescription. Your team knows your organization better than we ever will. Our role is to bring external expertise and pattern recognition, not to override your judgment.
Results over activity. We focus on outcomes that matter to your business, not on deliverables that look impressive but don't move the needle.
